Hi! I’m Arwa Abougharib.
I’m a mechanical engineer with a knack for tech, modelling, and systems design. Starting my first job at the young age of 16, I had the chance to explore many things, including legal administration and management through my family’s business while pursuing my engineering studies, eventually putting the two skill sets together through a master’s in engineering management. That is, until a lecture on the history of fire safety engineering—a field born out of human tragedy— changed my life (thank you, Dr. Ahmed Mokhtar!).
Currently, I’m a PhD candidate at the University of British Columbia, where my research focuses on modelling the thermal performance of mass timber structures in compartment fires.
